I was wondering if anyone has this tranny and how you like it. I know it is a 93 Cobra tranny with the 2.95 first gear and can handle 450 horse. I really want to stick to a T-5 because I just bought a spec stage 2 clutch. I will be pushing between 350 and 400 horse.I want the 2.95 becauseI have 3.73 gears in the rear and want first gear to be more useful. The cheapest I could find for a brand new one is $1200 I want to make sure it is worth it before I buy. thanks

are the gear set coated like the '93 cobra?...the 2.95 first gear works great even in a stock application..would I pay 1200 for it, no

I have this transmission in my 94GT that is my street/strtip car. I also have 3.73 Gears. My car is also supercharged running 9psi. I have yet to have a single problem with the trans. and have about 20k miles on it. Thelower first gear really helps but I still can't get any traction in 1st or 2nd unless I put my drag radials on.

I think the gears are coated it said it was the same one they put in the 93 Cobra

The t5z is a really nice ford upgraded unit. however, its definitly not worth 1200...

I paid more than that for mine, is a good trans, it shifts really smooth

I was debating going with the rebuilt but you have to send in a core. the price of shipping of the core and the price the core is worth if I just sold it myself would pretty much be the same as buying a brand new one. Theres nothing like new

Garbage! In fact I consider the T-5 to be the weakest link in a 5.0 drivetrain. I've spent so much money on new t5s and t5 repairs that I could have bought a tko by now. After a little abuse they like to jump out of 2nd gear . T5=joke!
