Well, I bought a tko 500. I was having it overhauled when this is what was found inside...

What is this exactly, because the guy I bought it from said 4th gear, but 4th gear i thought was a 1:1 linking input to output shaft. Please tell me what this is and is it worth running it how it is or to just buy w-e piece that is and replace it. Thanks a lot guys and only answer if your positive. Thanks

i don't know what gear it is but i would not run anything with that much wear in it.

4th gear is the direct gear so it would be a 1 (direct gear)not 1:1 and i defanatly would not run a gear like that in any thing but a chevy (so it breaks and i dont have to deal with it any more) b/c you will end up wearing it out more and eventualy there will be nothin there

actually, no.. 4th gear is actually still 2 gears in the transmission... and its a 1:1 ratio


but i will have to agree with the "not putting that back in the transmission" statement

Do it right and replace it. Youll just have to revisit it later if you dont...

That is the counter shaft. Its the 4th gear of the countershaft that is chewed up. It now needed to be replaced obviously.

that tranny must have been behind a monster, ive never seen a tko500 4th gear look likr that.
