6G Alternator Install Problems
I just installed a new 6G in my Foxbody(91) and it is not charging the Battery. While running I remove the positive cable and it dies immediately. I tested voltage its only at 11.51.
I use the yellow wire and the green with red stripe on the plug. Then use the 2 Black with orange stripe wires on the post as well as a 4 gauge off the post straight to the battery. I did everything correctly but it is not charging.
Has anybody had this problem or know what is happening that can help.
Thanks in advance,
Scott

RE: 6G Alternator Install Problems
do you have an underdrive pulley on this alt. if so that could be your problem. my 140 amp powermaster had a certain rpm it had to run in order to get maximum output, i think 2400 (alt rpms that is) and with a 3:1 pulley ration that is 800 engine rpms.i first put a bigger pulley on andhad the same results you are having.i put the stock pulley back on and it was ok. i also bumped my idle up a hair to about 850-900 not sure if this was the right thing to do but it worked for me.

RE: 6G Alternator Install Problems
I did eliminate the spade connector. I do not have a inlinefuse on the 4 gauge(what size fuse should I use?)
I do not believe there is a UD pulley on it. I do believe there is a UD pulley on the crank/fan though.
Also I was wondering if I should run an additional ground from the block to the frame?
Thanks
