Default fuel concerns

I have a question about a fuel filter. I just changed my fuel filter--not for any particular reason other then the fact that I know that its changed. When I got in my car the next day it seemed it had alot more "snap" to it then before. Could my old filter of been partially clogged and it just wasn't letting the right amount of pressure up to the engine? I really wasn't having a problem before and I'm definetly not complaining about it now--it just seems a little odd to me that just a filter would make that much of a difference. Oh, one more thing it seems like my fuel pump is making a strange noise since I replaced the fuel filter every time I turn the key--any ideas?? Thanxs for the help. I think the filter that was on there was the original factory one and I have 108,000 miles on it

The filter might of been clogged, and as for the sound it is normal for a fuel pump to get noisy as it gets some wear to it

most definitely the fuel filter restriction when dirty could have been hurting the performance of the engine and now you can hear the fuel pump more since it is pumping more fuel too.

The fuel filter in my '02GT was so clogged at 45k miles that I couldn't blow through it no matter how hard I tried!

Im just giving you a hard time Blue . From the way you describe it, I would say the noise commin from the fuel pump is normal. Like roundy said, your pump is able to push more fuel.

I know your giving me a hard time--I'm just being a nice guy and returning the favor!![sm=icon_cheers.gif] I'm not sure if it was the original filter but it did say motorcraft on it. Could a fuel filter last over 100,000 miles--seems to me it should've been changed over 80,000 miles ago. Thanks for all your help and advise guys and girls[sm=thanx.gif]
