Rearend Gears Question

hey whats up everyone, i have a question about moving on to higher ratio rearend gears, i've asked alot of people but i keep getting different answers and the runaround [&:] basically i'm wondering what the driveability of the 3.73's and the 4.10's are compared to stock, most importantly on the highway, or just plain cruising at higher speeds for prolonged periods of time, i hear two sides to the story: 1. the higher the ratio the worse the driveability gets - "you'll blow em out on the highway if youre not careful" 2. that either theres no driveablility difference from stock or hardly any difference and that it wouldnt be a problem to cruise on the highway.

so since i keep getting two different stories, which is extremely annoying [:@], i decided to test the knowledge of mustangforums.com ;) as where in the past i just wondered about the truth, i'm actually gonna get some for my stang damn soon so i need to know the facts

my stang is a 95 gt AOD if thats any help to ya

all responses are greatly appreciated [sm=thanx.gif]

P.S. - please give me recomendations between 3.73 and 4.10 and the reason why, pros and cons of both?

RE: Rearend Gears Question

go with 4.10's if you gotta auto... you'll be amazed.... if you get 3.73 you will get better gas milage.... but it wont suck you to your seat as hard... imo

cool! but...but that still doesnt answer the highway and all around potential problem with driveability question [&:]

and a little compare and contrast would be awesome :)

if you are worried about drivablilty promblems go with the 3.73 gears, imo they are the best all around gear.Cause you get both decent highway gear and a great daily driver gear, they give ya a good kick in the ass on take off and steal keep the rpm's down when crusing

cool thanks alot, 3.73's it is then :) but hey just wondering, whats specifically the problem with 4.10's while cruising?

nothing really if i was you i would go for the 4.10's with the auto unless you do alot of highway driving, but if you do go with the 3.73's;)

RE: Rearend Gears Question

well the 4.10's will make your RPM's a lot higher on the highway.

I have 3.73's and on the highway at about 70 I am at 2550 rmp's.
With 4.10's Im guess you'll be at or right aroudn 3000.

why? just cause of the high rpms? is there any other reason? and the only prob i can think of with the high rpms would be gas burning faster. if thats not a problem then i guess i should take the 4.10's?

but then hence another question, is it really worth it preformence wise if i get the 4.10's to take the extra hit in gas?
