Default 3.73's to 3.55's

Now i have 3:73's in my car and hate how the gears are shorter and how i lost a lot of top end... If i was to switch to 3:55's would i get some top end back? If so how much?? Would i just be better goin back to the stock 3.08's? Also... If i kept the 3:73's in and got heads and a supercharger and i'd get like 80 hp from that.. Would i get longer gears or more of a top end?

well i can do the math and show u your final drive for both gears if you want, and i can show you what the MPH difference would be at a given RPM between the two gear sets

in fifth the gear ratio is .68 so with 3.73's the final drive is 2.54 and with 3.55 the final drive is 2.42 so not much ofa difference, now lets look at the MPH difference

at 2000RPM in fifth with the 3.73 you'll be at 60 MPH and with 3.55 you'll be at 63 MPH
at 6000RPM in fifth with the 3.73 you'll be at 180 MPHand with 3.55 you'll be at 190 MPH
going from 3.73's to 3.55's is realy a waist of time because u won't get much top end back

it's like 3.73's to 4.10's not a big enough difference to matter or to waist the money on

honestly it would be a waste of money going down to 3.55 ... ull gain mayb 12 more mph... if that... if u wanted more top speed get a t-56... if will give u that extra gear thats rite below 1.00... im think its .87 so ull pull like anotehr 30-45 mph probably.. its kinda also depends on you tire diamiter

I can hit 125 with 4.10s. So i assume you can go quite a bit faster with 3.73s. Unless your runnin like 8's in the quarter theres really no need unless youl ike to cruise goin like 150.

t-56 6th gear is .62 which is longer than the stock t-5's .68 and the viper spec. t-56 is .50 in 6th

This is definitely not something you see every day and one reason i went on the conservative side. If you are going to be adding heads and a supercharger you'll gain more than 80hp, and IMO 3.73s will be too much for that combo, unless you build the rear end and run slicks. 3.55s FTW
