its a 94 gt 5spd

I was wanting to change the fluid because the shifting is feeling a little notchy.

I was planning on buying a 50/50 mixture of mtl and mt-90 to use, but I heard we might have to use ATF.

How much fluid do I need?? What kind should I use to get rid of the notchy shifting and get clean shifts like the tranny were new?

use dextron III and it is 2 and 3/4 quarts. i did a bottle of lucas tranny conditioner and topped it off with atf

+1 to that when my trans finally breaks in im changing out the atf to synchromesh

i use full synthetic atf, buy 3 bottles, way i did it, put it on the lift, w. the fill plug out, and filled all 3 thru the shifter... had a catch pan to catch the excess from the 3rd bottle... so its 2.something, .8 i think? not sure, just fill it to the bottom of the fill hole

i hear good things about the gm syncromesh tho... 94gtcoupe uses it i think... im sure hell chime in, if he hasnt before i posted this, lol.

now on the synchromesh....do you use it straight or mix it with atf?

yea dime i use syncromesh and i love it but i heard from an evo friend that the BG syncroshift is nice too, once the car is running again and when i finaly need a fluid change again i'm gunna try that

I have had pretty good luck with putting the Seafoam trans tune in a few auto cars and had nothing but good results. Not to sure about the 5spd's. Yeah the Gm syncromesh works great. Also used the BG trans 3 part trans stuff and it works great too when you do a flush in a Auto.

a manual is was diff. that a auto in this case, running tranny cleaner in a manual will do nother since there is not clutches in it to wear and clog things up plus there realy isn't anthing in it to clog in the first place
