What do u guys think bout goin from 87 to 93(premium) in the 5oh's? The reason is is cuz i heard it gives ua lil bit more hp. Iam also goin to bump up the timing. Could this be bad for the engine inANY way?

Not gonna do anything unless you bump your timing. If you bump your timing you'll need higher octane gas, but for a stock 5.0 87 is fine.

advanced timing is what we like to consider a "free hp" mod.

If you push your timing from the stock 10° to about 14° your car can pick up anywhere up to 7-10hp.... its been proven

run some 89 in your car for a while to get all the 87 out, then put in a couple gallons of 89 in the car and bump the timing to 14°

If it runs fine with no pinging at 14° with 89, your golden, no need for 93... but should you need to fill witl 93, you wont have a full tank to deal with, you can just add 93 in and mix it up

I've ran 87 in my car 1 time the 9 years i've owned it. Other than that 91-93. I would say bump timing to 14* and start runing high octane.

I'm running 93, but I just wanted to be safe since it's a new rebuild. My timing is at 14* right now....I'm planning on bumping it another * or 2 when I get it tuned.

notice pretty much everyone said you'll need to adjust your timing. you wont notice anything if you dont advance your timing.

I run 93, but my timing is at 18*. If you dont bump your timing dont spend the extra money on higher octane, it will do nothing but make you poor quicker.

it won't burn cleaner, the higher octane will actually produce more pollutants and other nonsense. i've always run it, even when i was stock. so don't think i'm saying that it is bad. i did it just for a higher quality fuel. but as stated above, raise the timing and pay the extra $4 dollars a fill up.
