This should help: http://www.compcams.com/Technical/In.../Files/250.pdf

I hope those aren't world sr heads and a stock short block.

Thought I would ressurrect this thread rather than start a new one, my first attempt at adjusting rockers failed and I'm not sure why. Turned engine over by hand(clockwise as you look at the front) until the exhaust rocker on cylinder #1 started to open, then adjusted intake rocker on same cylinder, I got to zero lash no problem, however the end of all possible adjustments was less than a 1/4 turn away and I don't see any set screw or way to lock the rocker nut in that position(crane blue racer 1.6) I went on and cranked the engine over till the intake I just adjusted started to close, then adjusted the exhaust valve the same way with the same results. I noted several cylinders where I ran out of adjustment at or just beyond zero lash and severeal where I could adjust the 1/2 to 3/4 turn reccommended. Are my rods to short/long? It is a stock block all redone bored to 306, brand new windsor junior heads, E-303, crane rockers with studs/plates blue racer 1.6s, and stock length hardened motorsport pushrods, sorry to write a book but it would be very bad if I screwed this up as Mr Mustang is tired of not flying down the road.
thanks

the blue racer rockers are pedestal mount rockers, there non-adjustable, I had a set on my stock heads

do your heads have rocker studs on them?

Hm, I installed a bunch of what looked like double ended bolts in the heads, thought those were called studs. Guide plate followed by stud, insert rods, place rockers on stud and make sure both rod ended are seated right, clue me in here, where did I mess up?

on the inside of the rocker where the stud goes has 1 side curved and 1 side flat, the flat side has to face up.
did you tighten the alen key lock in the top of the adjuster nut?

I didn't see any allen key, I will look again tomorrow though. Maybe someone could post a picture of pedestal mount and stud mount so I can see the difference and maybe learn something!
