Default Time to restore my 86 GT

well my 89 LX isnt what i thought it was its a total loss in my opinion so im gonna pull the engine, trans, and axle and put it in the 86. ive got a lot of work to do first thing is to put the interior back together in the 86, its gonna be a pain in the @$$. so i have a few questionsand maybe yall have some answers. will i have to use my wiring harness out of my 89 for the 86? how hard is it to put the dash back together?

as you can see from the pics i have a lot of work to do.

well i started to swap interiors the other day and when i pulled the carpet up in the 89 i found out that the floorpan is rusted through on both sides and by the rear seat its rusted through pretty bad and the trunk pan above the gas tank is rusted pretty bad. also the body has lots of surface rust i just totally lost interest in it after seeing all this, i only paid 300 for the car with a pretty stout motor. so ive decided to get my 86 goin its got a really good body all i need is a front driver side fender and a rear bumper. and i need to put it back together again the interior is pulled apart.

from what i have heard the dash is pretty easy to put together havent done it yet in my 84 but im gunna have to when i put the new heater core in it and i think it might be easier to put the harness from your 89 in it but im not totaly sure about that id wait for someone else to jump in on this but its the weekend and it gets a little slow around here

ive really never even attempted to pull a harness out of anything so this should be fun but ill wait till later and hopefully someone will chime in with some info.

hell maybe you should pull the motor and though a carb on it and not deal with a harness and computer all together

i would but i like the setup i got. cobra u/l , cobra MAF, cobra cpu all i need is the gt40 heads. lots of goodies on this motor. and i like when i pop the hood that i see cobra. ive always loved cobras for some reason i just cant afford to buy one so im gonna build a clone (even though they didnt make one in 86)

i was gonna make the 89 a cobra clone but that didnt work out that good with all the rust. i cant have a rustbucket.
