Default 4-eye engine swap - tech needed

I have an '86 v-6 TBI, AOD mustang and I want to swap in an 89'-'93 mass air 5.0L. I have researched and developed scenarios to the point my head is spinning. What is the easiest and most cost effective method (besides a "donor car") means to accomplish this. Specifically does the interior harness need to be replaced or can you get an 89-93 harness and eec and go with that or do you need to swap out the complete interior harness, eec harness, etc (ie donor car) if so what specifically has to be changed (does the dash harness need changed?).......I am too confused to think......

TIA

i think you have to change the front cross member. they are different from v6 to v8/4-cyl.not sure about the dahs and body harness, i dont think so but i might be wrong. yes you do need the motor wirring harness and the v8 ecm.

I thought the k-member for the 3.8L v6 was the same as the 5.0L.

I know I need the engine harness and eec but will it plug and play that way or do I have to treat it like a 4 cyl swap (dash harness, engine harness, eec, etc, etc?

TIA

i am not sure if the k-member is the same.. i know it is different on the inline 6 cars.. and i thought it was different on the v6 cars but i might be wrong. i think as long as you have the ecm and the engine harness you should be fine. not posative though. hopefully somebody else will chime in and help you more.

what aprts do u ahve already? u'll need a bellhousing for the trans i believe, cant help u with kmemebers but will u be liek adding suspension upgrades to this car? cuz if u are the go for one of those tubular kmemebers form upr the kit comes with coilovers and a arms. that would solve ur k memeber prob and if u ahven talreday check sum diagrams for the wiring or do a physical match upo if u ahve the aprts already

Yea, I plan on a tubular K, but I'm rpretty sure it isn't required. The big thing I'm struggling with at the moment is wheather or not I have to change all the wiring (engine, dash, etc, etc) or if I can get a mass air eec and engine harness and plug-n-play with the rest of teh 86 harness. I don't think I can but I have done so much research I think I have confused myself. Unfortunately I am afraid I'll have to change it all.....or maybe I can do the "mass air conversion" switch a couple pins in the eec connector I just dunno.....that's why I'm here! LOL

also a transmember will be different, since you'll need one with dual humps

ud probably be better off just switching the entire harness, the switching pins thign sounds easy but ive never actually done it oranyhtign, and u may need different sensors and some wires may be too short others too long, simpler jsut sto switch the ahrness. have u checked painless? i think they may ahve a harness for it
