do not mod that car if it is in survior shape!!!...it will be collectible if you keep it long enough....lots of peeps that were in high school at the time it was new remember those cars fondly. Those along with z28's were the "muscle cars" of that era. Now they are "disposables" that are mainly driven by kids as their first fast car. that will all change. I remember in high school when we drove 60's and 70's muscle cars cause we could pick em up for under 2-3k. New stang gt's were around 13-15k if i remember correctly.

I had a 68 fastback that I paid $700 for back in '85. I'm still crying over the numbers matching mint 64 fairline sports coupe that my buddies and i destroyed back in '89. If I had those two cars now...i could retire....

it's funny how things come full cirlcle...back in the 80's we got nice 60's cars cheap...now they are worth a fortune...in the 00's we get 80's muscle cars dirt cheap..so im guesing in the 20's (2020's) these same cheap 80's cars will be selling at barret jackson for 6 figures....

ORIGINAL: 88droptopgt

"The amount that it would bring by beong 100% original is very minimal at best. These are just not colletible cars, there was simply too many of them made to be valuble. Yes a clean, unmodded car always worth more than a beat up pile of crap. I would mod it as you like and enjoy the car, that's what it is all about."

The same can be said for the Stangs of the 60's, Camaro's, Chevelles when you say TOO many made. bla bla bla.
I think it is too soon to say if they are worth anything or not.
Your right what would I know about this kind of thing. Put that 86 in a bubble and don't touch it for the next 25 years and you will be able to retire off it

If I were you, I would hang onto that sucker. Don't do anything to it other than maintain it. You should definitely show it, too. Granted, it's not exactly a rare car, but the fact that it is in such good condition and low mileage makes it rare. Take my word for it. I have a '74 Vega GT. It's definitely not a sweet pieceAmerican of machinery, but it's in good, all original condition, so it still wins me trophies at the shows.

noone can predict these things, if you had told some of the muscle car owners back in 71 that their cars would be worth hundreds of thousands of dollars, they would have laughed in ur face. I kno this cause my uncle had a mint condition 68 charger 440 4bbl 4 speed and he let it go for 2 thousand back in 1970 that same car would fetch close to 100000 today. he was the original owner of the car too. if u think it will be rare than keep it the way it is, but if u just want a fun car than u picked the right one.

Well said, NOBODY can predict the future;with the exception of a few cars. There are alot of guys around that are from the true muscle car era, they never thought their cars would be worth what they are today. If people knew how valuable a car might be one day, the market would ne flooded with low mileage classic cars. I consider myslef lucky to have found a low mileage, old fart driven, trailer queen notch, will it be worth some decent coin one day? let's hope so!

I don't know about collectable, but I would keep it stock and find yourself a beater to mod.
