Yes, but it's a much better idea to use an X pipe.

how much of a difference in horse power/tq. is there between an H and an X

Damned decent.
Hot Rod mag dyno'd over open headers with an X pipe....which killed an H pipe. All in the flow (velocity) and scavanging. |

those mag as there to sell..and sell what ever pays the bills..on a mild street car you won't see much difference

Yes you CAN just put H pipe and then mufflers on it. - actually, that's what I have. H with flowmaster 40series. - I have no CATs, but I live in FL....you don't really need them here, no emissions.
I'd rather have an X from Bassani, but that will come later.

|

If you got the money go with the X pipe. It makes a little more horses (Depending on what modifcations you currently have) and also will change the resonating tone of your exhaust. I didn't feel like spending the extra 100 bucks, so I went with an H pipe.

i would def go with the x pipe i have a bassani on my 93gt and a h pipe on my 88. the x pipe sounds better and gave it a sugnificant increase in hp. h pipe sounds good just really didnt do much for the hp.

you have to look at the horse power to money ratio. the x pipe does not give you that much of an increase in horsepower for the extra money that it cost. that money would be better spent on other stuff. the again you have to look at the sound. it is what you want. and yess i had my car dynoed and the difference between them was less than 5 hp no big deal!
