Head Gasket Install Tips

Head Gasket Install Tips
So I blew the head gaskets on my engine thanks to the boost of the KB 5 psi kit. I have the heads off and I am putting on the Felpro FPP-1156-1head gaskets.

I know I need to put RTV on the lower head bolts that go into the water jacket.
I wanted to know if I should torque the heads, then wait a day and retorque. I would do this without running the engine. I plan on torquing the heads to 10 lb-ft more than stock to get as good of a seal as possible.
Any other tips?

I think this is one of the hardest parts of building an engine on your own. Unless your a seasoned veteran and know what you know thieris tons of misinformation out thier on this subject.Getting the right information is especially important in forced induction applications. The best information is to research and follow the manufacturers specifications for what ever brand and type of head fastener your using. They dont always include detailed installation instructions with the product cuz they assume you know what your doing, but sometimes they do so be sure to look for them in the box. Luckily, in ARP's case though, they have a ton of good technical info on thier website and a Tech support line. Here's a link to ARP's site that you might want to check outhttp://www.arp-bolts.com/Tech/TechInstall.html .

make sure you face the gaskets the right way. they should say "front" on one part of the gasket, make sure this part faces the front of the motor... If they dont say anything. make sure the coolant passages at the end of the gasket are on the BACK side of the motor

I wouldn't over torque head gaskets, that could cause a sealing problem itself. Its normally recommended that you use a liquid teflon sealer and not rtv on the threads of the head studs.
Looks like ac lines.

Is there any uses for the lines that are just cut off under the hood? No being a smart *** in any way...
