I can say for a fact that the sensor is fine with ethanol, methanol, toluene and xylene. I've used all of those in various turbo applications. The key with meth injection is to choose between using it as knock deterent or afuel source.

I believe AEM makes a good wideband kit, i think its around 250, has the o2's and the gauge. Its a 6-in-1 deal. Looks like a nice unit.

and as for the wide band... yes it is very important! go ahead and mod your car and not pay attention to your A/F...

For a complete burn its 14.7. Are you referring to power production or stoich? Power production is much richer then 14.7.

why as they are about useless
What makes a wideband useless? That statement is far from true. I've been using the LM1 for years with great success. If you're using the wideband to tune methanol, be aware that the meth has a different stoich then pump gas.

thats true that meth has a different stoich afr but remember, when tuning your car to run meth injection on a pump gas motor, you still tune for gas stoich. on a boosted motor running meth you want about 11.7:1 or 11.5:1 afr. i ran mine at 12:1 for a long time with no issues.

if the motor was running on nothing but methanol, then youd run a completely different afr.
