RE: Best bang for your buck
Ya so what is the deal on chips? My friends telling mea chip he added to hisDodge Ram 2500 is supposed to be giving him 30 or 40 more HP. Is it just5.0's that chips don't make big differences like that in or is it all cars?

on diesel trucks real big gains are easy, but no where near as close for 5.0s. an ECU would not benefit him at all. if he's a newb to all this how would he go about tuning his own car, thats a lil advanced for a newb. stick to the simple stuff till he learns more. go wit gears, exhaust and intake those 3 are the most common and exhaust and intake u can do urself.

Yea that is true. That however if for a diesel truck. For some reason, which I don't know, diesel trucks are detuned horribly at the factory with the addition of a nice 5" exhaust, intake, and one of those little downloaders you can add upwards of 200 hp at the push of a button.

Headers-If you plan to mod your car and keep modding it, which you will, get long tubes. If you go shorties now and need LT's later, you're spending 2x. I have NEVER seen a dyno graph that proves you lose anything w/ LT's on a stock or near stock motor. They do a better job of scavenging and equalize pulses better than any shorties.
As far as first mods, look in the Tech stickies to see what everyone suggests. Gears, timing, tune up, full exhaust, etc. can give you a great increase in performance for under $1k, especially if you take your time and shop around (Google is your friend).
