Default Stroker Kit vs. Rebuild Kit

Hopefully, im finally going to be picking up my 351w block tomorrow. I was wondering, if i bought a stroker kit, would that include everything that a rebuild kit has? If not, what else would i need to buy? Do i need both? This could be a dumb question, and to be honest, i have no idea on the answer. So if you could all please help me out i would appreciate it. Thanks.

Oh woops, i forgot to mention it would be stroked out to 408cid. Im sure it would depend on the rebuild kit also so maybe there are too many variables. Any help will be appreciated.

No advice from anyone? Anyone who has done a 408 swap? What did you have to buy besides the stroker kit? Or is that all you need as far as the engine goes, i've found more than enough on what else is needed for the swap

if your buying a block with no parts in it at all, you might as well stroke it because you will need to buy all the same parts for a stock rebuild as you would for a stroker motor. the only difference would be that the crank and rods are different. if the block yourbuying has all the parts inside, you could reuse them and just get new bearings and rings

Alright cool. I just got home with my new engine!!! Im tearing it down and starting from scratch because the car was involved in a fire and a lot of the stuff is ruined. So if i bought i 408 stroker kit, then i would have everything i needed to complete the engine? Correct me if im wrong because im not too clear on it. Thanks for all of the help.

it may not come with everything. depends on the kit you buy. when i bought my storker "kit" i got the pistons and rods in one place, the crank in another and the rings and bearings in a 3rd place.

Your going to have to have the block notched for the crank.

Block clearancing is a very minor machining process for a small fee. On a 351W based kit, it should come with everything you needs as far as parts are comcerned. Depending on what quality of pistons you want, I can get you a nice 408 kit with crank, rods, pistons, rings & bearings for in the neighborhood of $1200-1300... possibly less. There are options involved so it's difficult to give a hard quote without talking about indiviual builds.
