on my 87 gt, it has that red stripe that goes around the car. my base color is white. I'm looking to paint that red stripe white, and was wondering if i should just do it myself, or if i need to take it somewhere in order to get it done. If i can do it myself, whats good paint to use, and whats the proper way to do it???

no, i haven't studied it too much. why, do you think i could just peel it off???

yep just peeled the stripe on my gf's 02 stang off with a pocket knife

werd I took my red stripe off my 88lx
time consuming but worth the effort

yeah they take time but they just peel off. dont paint over it.

Id becareful though. Im not sure of the size of the stripe, but what about fading. Thats an old paint job, and if the sun has faded it, you might have a different color under the stripe.

Considering your car is 20 years old its a 99% chance that your paint is atleast somewhat fadded. When you take the stripe off your most likely going have different color paint underneath.

yeah i would leave it on there till you know its not fadded and have a paint job set up
