5.0L (1979-1995) MustangTechnical discussions on 5.0 Liter Mustangs within. This does not include the 5.0 from the 2011 Mustang GT. That information is in the 2005-1011 section.
if you have the lower intake off and you can see the rockers... there should be a spider plate holding the rockers down. if not then its not ho. ho means it is roller.

no, I dont think so. Maybe for some years, but Im not familiar withthat corralation. I know that the firing order is different. My 83 (years ago) started its life as a HO motor and it wasnt roller.
from like 86-93 the h.o.'s had different heads than the regular 5.0s. also, every mustang with a 5.0 was an h.o. most of the non h.o.'s were in mercury's and such
HO had the 351w firing order and a roller cam. Regular 5.0s have flat tappet cam and lifters, different intake manifold, and the old-school firing order.
HO was a Ford marketing scheme for the reintroduction of the 302 engine back in 1982......the 1985 (year roller block was introduced in Mustangs) Mustang GT auto is also identified as an HO, but is not a roller cam engine. We are the ones that have made the association of HO = roller cam, 351w firing order, TB size, etc.... FYI.... T-Birds, Cougars, Crown Vic.'s, Grand Marquis, Lincolns and trucks (some years) had a roller block, with a roller cam, and the 15426378 firing order.
