New Pony in the stable, what's 1st?
Got my first Mustang. It is a '91 Notch 5spdwith 68K miles. It is cleaner than the picture shows. Picked it up in Louisville, KY Friday 3/2 and drove it the 400 miles home to Cartersville, GA. She is going to get a complete fluid change today along with a thorough checkup. The car is basicly stock, has a cone intake filter mated to the MAF and a setof flowmasters.
There are three things the car needs;
1 The speedometer jumps around all over the place and never the correct speed. The odometer works just fine as does the tripometer. How hard of a fix is this? Will the odometer be able to be saved?
2 The spring rods that hod the trunk lid up are loose. Shouldn't be to hard to repair
3 Get rid of the dark tint
The plans for the car will be to make it handle and a sub 4.5 second 0-60 all while maintaining as much of the stock appearance as possible. I had an '81 RX-7 years ago that I could take a 90 degree turn that's at the endof our roadat 70 with plenty of traction left, I want the same for this little pony.
So anywho. Is there anything these cars need immediately? I am in the process of putting together the game plan for the car but wanted to make sure there was nothing the car needed before just tooling around while waiting on parts. My Aunt had an '84 LX she bought new. By '89 the driver's seat floor pan had fallen apart. Not due to rust but wear. Just want to make sure I keep this solid base a solid base.
Thanks,
Ron

RE: New Pony in the stable, what's 1st?
Nice notch man, I am in Woodstock Ga. You will need to lubricate the speedo cable with 3 in 1 oil or something like that. I just put in a new 140mph cluster in my 87 today, the hardest part is getting the speedo cable off the cluster. Welcome to the forums.
