Need Help with Supercharger
hi, I just installed a Novi 2000 on my
89 gt stock. But it is still backfiring up around 1200 rpms, i retarded the ignition 1 degree.
What would i need to fix this problem. A SCT Chip with custom tune from American Muscle or do i still need to retard more my ignition. Any suggestions would be help full.

Is it tuned at all or did you just bolt it on and go? Running it without a tune is asking for trouble. How many PSI are you pushing? What size injectors are you using? Are you using any FMU? You're not using platinum spark plugs are you? Any intercooler?
I know it's a lot of questions, but they ar eimportant
And yeah, I doubt 1 degree of timing is gonna help.

You've gotta get that thing tuned asap or you're gonna hate life... especially when you run lean and blow your engine. At the very least, tighten the screw on the FMU to run a little richer and retard your timing some more.
How many PSI? Still don't know if you're running an intercooler.

I am not sure how many psi it will be running but the kit is from 8-10psi. I might be running a intercooler later on the road, but for now no.
I was also wondering how much will it cost for a dyno tune and a chip. and which chip would you guys recomend.
thanks for all the help

There's no way to sugar coat this one... a dyno tune isn't cheap (by most people's standards.) You're probably looking at $500+ if you have never had one before and don't already have a chip that can be reburned.
I wouldn't worry too much about "brand" as long as you take it to someone who can burn a custom chip and knows what they are doing.
