Default 3.55 or 3.73??

I would like to upgrade the gears on the rearend of my 87 V8 5.0 5speed. My friend was telling me to get 3.55 but the more I read, it seems people prefer 3.73. whats the difference and what do you guys prefer?

also, what is the difference between 8.8" rear and 7.5" rear?

Just go 3.73...what year/engine Mustang do you have? If it's a v8 you have an 8.8

go with 3.73's..you'll get more acceleration
and not that much of a difference with gas mileage

Hoooold the phone...why are you making that switch? The difference is so negligible it's not nearly worth the money. Now if you're going to 4.10's it might be worth it, but 55-73 is a waste. BackInBlack, just go 3.73, you won't regret it

We'll I'm going to rebuild my rearend anyways, so I thought I might as well do it. I have heard that there is a pretty big difference between the two, maybe Im wrong?
