RE: Help me build a 408stroker w/ PAW book
I would use a 70-74 block with the higher deck hieght, if you have to deck the block a couple thousands (.123) could help you keep the compression down. Then again you could use some dished pistons, or thick head gaskets but those generally cost a little more money.
If I were to do it over again I'd go with a DSS or Coast High...
Something about PAW that drives me crazy, maybe cheap chrome crap or maybe their ads I see in MMFF

I would use the C9 (1969) block as they are supposed to be a little stronger and the deck hieght is a little lower. The one I built stayed at 357 CID and has been raced in a '67 coupe for the past 4 years, wiith cheap Comps cam (hyd) and backyard done heads, flatop hyper pistons, nothing special at all the car runs 11.80's-90's on just a 4.10 gear up here in the desert where theres no air. I figure that I've got about 400HP out of it to run that good..........

BTW, this sort of E.T. done with a C-4 with manual valve body and Cheap a++ converter thats supposed to 2800-3000 but I'm thinking that it's more 2400. Most of this whole car was built with swap meet stuff. Car itself is pretty light, 2800 with driver. Glass hood came from swaps also. I would like to be able to biuld simalar motor for Fox body 'Stang except use differant cam etc. BTW, compression on 357 is 9.6
