RE: T TOP doors
The 81-early 88 model T top doors are just hard top doors with the window frame removed and a different window regulator inside of it. If you have a T top door regulatorand a hardtop door you can make it work. The late 88( mid september-october production of 1987 {88 model run})T top doors were convertible doors and used different glass because the corner mount mirrors were not used on them. Just FYI, the convertible glass won't work with a T top either.

Yes, if you have both doors you can make them work. You'll need to remove the glass from the 84 so the regulator can be removed and then use the 84 door as a template when you cut the window frame off of the door. It will be a lot of elbow grease to make it work properly but it can be done. There's extra bracing on the 84's door that you'll need to move too. Those rivets will have to be drilled out and then that piece moved to the hardtop door. Just be detailed with where parts are removed from the 84's door and see where they should go on the 86. Everything on the 84 will need to be transferred for the window regulator to work properly. There are some stops at the upper part of the door that need to be moved also. Take good care in removing all the parts so that you'll have good pieces to put in the hardtop door.

Buying another door would surely be easier. But the T top doors are not that easy to find.
The doormounting brackets are the same. Use a good sharp sawsall blade when cutting the frame off of the hardtop door and make damn sure you cut it right the first time. Just take your time and move everything over making notes as you go. Taking digital pictures before you start is good for reference too.
