Default Clutch or what??

Ok...heres the deal.....I've owned my GT about a year and a half now.....it's a 5.0 of course with 225,000 miles...today coming home from work as I got on the ramp to get onto the highway I shifted into 5th and I got big revs...but no speed like i normally get......but if I slowly give it gas itstarts to pick up speed....it also is doing this in 4th gear....I push on the gas kinda hard and the revs just go WAY up but no speed.....if i ease onto the gas it starts to pickup.......is it the clutch....or something in the trans itself.....??

Sounds like the clutch needs some attention.

i'm willing to bet your clutch is fried or you have alot of scoring on your flywheel. someone will chime in on this one but thats what my car did and i had zero clutch....the metal plate for the clutch was even broken my clutch was so bad

yea man its your clutch, you can adjust the pedal, which will provide a temp. solution, but either way i would start looking into buying a clutch soon.

I had a 1995 300zx TT for 5 years... the 5th gear usuallly starts to go first when the clutch goes bad. I live in Fl where its obviously relatively flat, but I was drivin through ATL and my car wouldnt really accelerate in 5th or 4th over hills anymore unless I tried accelerating slowly. Got a new clutch, fixed the problem, and drove like a whole new car!

It sounds like your clutch is slipping. As for the reason, either it's worn, or you don't have enough slack in your clutch cable.

Cashed in clutch, and probably a glazed flywheel.

Also, I believe if your rear main seal is leaking, it can foul your clutch and cause it to slip.

W/ miles like that, replace these as well:

Ram HD clutch disc (possibly pressure plate) - $160 for clutch/PP/alignment tool/Throw out bearing
Rear main seal - under $10, IIRC
Pilot bearing - $12
HD clutch fork/bolt - $40
Clutch cable - $25
(Quadrant/Firewall adjuster) - $60
