explorer 5.0 question
hello, im new to the forums and just recently purchased a89' lx and just picked upa complete 5.0 out of a 99' explorer with gt40p heads with 80k on it and planned on just swapping the heads and intake over onthe 5.0 HO in the stang right now.I know that swapping the"p" heads on my 5.0HO block will give me around 9.5:1 CR.
My question is, what is the compression ratio of the explorer 5.0 with gt40p heads that i picked up? If it is around 9:1 or 9.5:1 then i will just use the explorer motor and just swap the necessary parts off the 5.0 HO since my 5.0HO is pretty tired. Thanks for the help...

RE: explorer 5.0 question
I thought that i read somewhere that the explorer 5.0 with regular gt40 heads with 64cc chambers netted around a 8.8:1 CR so i thought that with 59-60cc chambers(gt40p) it would be slightly over 9:1..... I guess a way to answer all of this would be to see if the explorer motor are running a lower compression piston vs the 5.0HO, if i can find that out i will be set. thanks for the advise.....
