Default Help with 5 Lug Conversion on 89 hatch

I want to go with a 5 lug conversion on my 89. I have heard many opionions on what I need to accomplish this, and I hear it depends on the wheels I choose.

I want to use these wheels http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts...tKeyField=5126

I know I can use this kit--- http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts...tKeyField=1791
But I don't have the money for it right now.

They also offer this kit which is much more affordable for the time being http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts...rtKeyField=789
and this http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts...rtKeyField=167

Which is fairly inexpensive, but some say the center caps of the wheels I want will not fit unless I go to 94-95 hubs & spindles. Can anyone confirm or deny what I need to buy to make the above wheels work on my 1989 Stang? I have read numerous threads, and articles and some say I need everything, while others say just the rotors and axles will do it. I would much rather not buy $2200 in brakes to make it work, Any help would greatly be appreciated!

Also if the http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts...rtKeyField=789works on the front could I not just buy slotted or drilled rotors instead? If so what make and model do I buy them for?

THANKS!!!!

Ford Racing should be able to answer your questions. Also, if you look at the wheels you choose, they have a 5.72" backspacing while the 5-LUG FRONT/REAR SUPER HEAVY-DUTY “COBRA” DISC BRAKE CONVERSION KIT Requires use of 17" x 8" wheels (not included in kit) with 5-hole, 4.5" diameter mounting pattern and 5.75" backspacing.

Hope that helps.

If you decide to go with the cheaper alternative you cant use those wheels.
Dont buy the cheap kits. Just go to the parts store and get '92 Lincoln Mark 7 rotors and the bearings and seals for them and get Ranger drums (9.x"). Then go to the junkyard and get two left rear axles from a '92 or older Ranger with a 4 banger or small v6 (not 4.0).
The cheap front kit doesnt even include the bearings.
Those rotors are $55.94 at Advance Auto and the bearings are$6.79 each outer and $8.49 each inner and the seals are $6.99 each (need two). Total= $156.42.

So why can't I use those wheels if I buy the mark 7 rotors and ranger axles?

The big hubs on the front wont clear the center caps. The rears will be fine.

Is there anything else I can do without buying the $2450.00 kit ? And still use the wheels I want? By the way I appreciate the help.

I bought my 94-95 spindles from ebay for 200$ my brother in law bought a set at the local you pull it for 60$, just do the spindle swap, you getter more weight off the front end and can run much better brakes

From the tech article It appears if I switch spindles thenI also need 94-95 calipers and brake lines also. And of course new rotors.
