I use good ole 87. It works fine with the factory compressions ration, and only moderate timing bumps. Otherwise you are just throwing money away. But with gas jumping to $2.39 a gallon I am thinking of getting a junker to drive around town just for the gas mileage. A 5.0 is not what people wold call cheap to drive.

Run the lowest octane that will keep the engine from knocking? I've talked to alot of people about my 06 WRX and they said that it doesnt nessecarly nead premium but just enough to keep from knocking. so i guess 87 would work if it doesnt knock?

Higher octane = more combustable = more power

Unless you have the mods that require the higher octane or unles you've increased your timing, then you're wasting your money on higher octanes. If you're going to buy 91 or 93, at least bump your timing 4 - 6 degrees and get the free HP gains. On another note, if you're worried about gs mileage, then I don't think a 5.0L V8 engine was the best choice for you.

I agree with everything he said.

Oh, and it's Camaro, killa.

The junker I sold last summer cost me $500 cost me an extra $150 a yearin insurance, and got 50 MPG. It was a complete peice of crap, but it was cheap. 1982 VW Jetta Deisle. I was going through 2 tanks a week in the stang ($50), or one in the jetta ($25). Sold the thing for 1k. Put 10,000 miles on it and spend like $50 keeping it running.

You're going to want premium in a turbo car. The first sign of detonation and you'll be buying a new motor. Don't take a chance.

In a stang, stock timing-12 or 13* can usually run on 87 just fine. Higher bumps in timing often require higher octane gas. Premium gas on stock timing is just wasting your money and gas.
