Default Winter Project: Which Cam and Heads?

Alright well my car is sitting in the garage for the winter untill spring and i am having the tranny rebuilt and the oil pump blew so i have to put in a new one. So while i am messin around with the engine I want to get a good set of heads and cam. What is a good set of heads for a daily driver? Price and where i could get them. The same for the cam. By which i mean daily driver as i dont have a ****ty *** idle. Also do i need to get bigger injectors and change to Mass air when i do this upgrade? Thanks!!!

afr heads are arguably the best heads out there, the 165's would suit you well. Just find a cam that will suit your rpm needs, if you still have the stock intake then try to stay around 5500 rpm, I hate to be generic but a FMS B cam would be nice - have a nice sounding idle give good power and idle good.

and with heads & cams, your gonna want 24# injectors and a better fuel pump.

to get the full advantage of any change in cam or heads, you will need to upgrade to a mass air system instead of the speed density system you have now for the best results. and don't go over about .498 lift on the cam without making damn sure you will have at least .125" piston to valve clearance also. you also have to be careful not to go too big with the intake valves also as the stock pistons don't have valve reliefs large enough for anything over 1.90" without a possible clearance problem.

165 afr's...post match a good intake...since rebuilding fly cut the pistons and use something like a 512-525 with a 112 cl for good vacuum and good idle....also get a cam that all lift is based on a 1.6 rocker some later if you get the itch for more hp then just add 1.7 rockers to increase lift so no cam change is needed and idle will still be good

Well what would be the right cam for my mods. (Ford Racing Alluminum GT-40 Intake Manifold) other mods in my signature. I just want the thing to be able to have more power but not have a really ****ty idle.

well if adding just a cam with out the heads something in the 485-502 range..just don't get one of those abc cams they do nothing for the exhaust side of the heads

Well i am going to get Cam and Heads the main thing i was wondering is what is known to be a good set of heads and cam for an everyday driver. Where you get them and what is the price. Then i was wondering which ones (if i need to change) for the mods that i have.
