manual transmission fluid

my 94 gt I just bought has 154k on the clock and probably has never had the gearbox fluid changed.

Should I stick EXACTLY to what Ford recommends or is there there an additive that I should put in?

i always run dextron III.....it take around 2.75 quarts

+1 on the synthetic as a preventative measure and make sure to get a good aftermarket shifter with stop while your at it to prevent over extending the shift forks
