Do Phenolic spacers actually do anything?

suposed to make the runners longer, which is suposed to create more tq... however i dont no how tru that works, but that is the thinking behind them....and it keeps the upper further away from the lower/and motor, and suposidly(sp) keeps the air slightly cooler.

only reason i would/will buy one, is to make a port injection kit

no what it does is the less bends you have when your aircomes through the intake the more veloctiy the air gets. so that spacer makes a longer straight away for the air to go in making more velocity and more torque. they did a long bit about it on horsepower tv and also they have some tech articles i read about them in a mag a friend had, he ordered one for his carbed 85

i know the 1 inch spacer makes it so you dont have to take off your upper intake to retorque the lower intake manifold bolts.
