Default over heating help

ok so i let my cousin take my car to his auto shop class and long story short he calls me and tells me the battery died. so i get there and theres coolent all over the inside of the engine and the temp gauge was maxed out. i let it cool down and had to put 2 and a half gallons of water into it. it seems to be fine now but there is a screaching noise coming from the engine bay somewhere i havnt figuered out where its coming from. what should i look for that could have been broken. fyi it had coolent in it when i gave it to him. he did a pressure check on the radiater cap and he said it pushed some fluid out from a lose hose on the water pump. he put water back into it but some where along the line it lost most of the fluid. so what should i check and look for. thanks in advance.

+1 Also check the belt, if they get coolant on then they like to squeel.
