Oil Pan Replacement

Oil Pan Replacement
Yesterday I was informed that I need to replace my oil pan because one of the drain plug holes is stripped. There is an oversized screw in it right now, but I was told that won't last me very long. How difficult is it to replace the oil pan? I noticed that I can get a replacement pan and gasket for $100 from 50resto, but how difficult is it going to be to replace it. Originally, I thought it would just be a matter of dropping the old one out and putting the new one in, but I was given an estimate of about $350 in labor to replace the oil pan, which indicates about 6 hours of work. I am hoping I can do this myself, but I was a little concerned after seeing the price.
Thanks,
David

RE: Oil Pan Replacement
what i did when i replaced my rear main seal and oil pan gasket was i dropped the trans and bellhousing, unbolted the motor mounts(the two bolts going into the block, not the other side, raised the motor about 4 inches and put bricks on there sides between the mounts. really easy once i had that done. dont think dropping the trans is necessary for you, i had to cuz of the rear main. also another little side note, when you take off the oil pan, you need to take off the oil pump and pick up tube and drop it into the pan. then you can take the pan out.
