Why does my car back fire
I just wanted to find out what some of the main causes wouldbe tomy stang backfire. It only seems to do it at higher rpms and it does not matter what gear I am in.

RE: Why does my car back fire
I do not have a maf yet, but I can look into the tps voltage, what about the timing, or possible beinga tooth off. btw, it happens aroung 4500 rpms, but not all the time.

RE: Why does my car back fire
more than likely due to a fuel trim issue, and carbon build up in the cylinders/heads....
noy much you can do about it without tearing the motor apart and giving it a good cleaning

RE: Why does my car back fire
think i read this somewhere else on the forum but do you have an offroad x/h pipe and still running the smog pump? the air still being pumped into the back of the cylinder heads causes it to backfire. maybe someone can back me up on this?
