Buy a Mexican short block. They are good for over 700 HP
No they are not, "mexican" block are only slightly stronger due to different
alloy used in casting. And I've read even that is myth.

You want over 500hp on a 302 block and you want it to last
you need a 4 bolt main block. ---- Dart Sportsman, Dart IronEagle or new Ford Boss block.

his a smart guy listen to him... you cheapest bet is a 351... otherwise your looking at a $1500+ block... and thats just the block... ull need everything else... aftermarket 4 bolt main blocks are expensive projects... you could easily spend 8-9 grand to just get he motor together and running... then u need everything else... like trany that can handle it and suspension that will hook... a 650hp small block that is reliable is a 15000 buck project no including the car and if u do it rite and dont cut corners.... go to a junk yard and find youself a nice 351 outta a trunk or somethan and go from there ull save at least 2000 grand probably a lot more than that actually...

IMO, the new Ford 'BOSS' block is still way to new to even discuss what it will take.
Also, IMO, I would think it should be good for 600+ HP. And something I like about it is the idea that it's about $700 or so less than a Dart block or anything like that..........
