GT40P vs. Twisted Wedge

Alright after talking to quite a few people i recently met in my area about my plans for my sn95 vert this summer i've decided instead of the original vortech 8lb. plan im going to go with H/C/I. My question starts here........Obviously gt40p heads with a frpp e303 or f303 cam and a gt40 or edelbrock IM will be a lot cheaper than buying the whole TFS H/C/I package for im pretty sure 2,300 bucks at summit. Which one should I go with and which one will give me better performance. I know the gt40p's will raise compression to somewhere around 9.5 ive heard but do the twisted wedge heads raise compression at all? I just really would like some direction on which way go. My goal is to run high to mid 12's with some suspension work and drag radials. As of right now I'm at a 14.1 with stock gears, bbk cai, bbk shorty headers, bbk catless x, and summit catback. I have already installed 4.10's this winter so I'm sure that will help some. Any help would be great.

No way mid 12's on gt40 P. Check this out late model resto sells the trick flow kit for 2250. BUT its cheaper than the holley and you get more stuff. It comes with those bad ass valve covers and the intake and valve covers can be black or silver. You also get a matching cam twisted wedge heads, 1.6 roller rockers, double roller timing chain, gaskets, bolts plus the intake can be track heat or street. it might come with something else but if you open up the first couple pages of musle mustangs and fast fords you will see it. I was suprised it was cheaper than the holley plus has vavle covers to match. I bet it gives more horse and would be a nice mid 12 ride. With about 3 grand you could do it with what you have. Get some sub frames, springs, struts and shocks. If you still have money rear control arms will help.

Unless you know how to port your own heads orare racing in a class that requires using a factory cast iron head the GT-40p's arent worth the money.By the time youpayto haveall the work done too getthe GT-40p's flowing respectable numbers your better off just buyin someTwisted Wedge, Edelbrock, etc. heads. Now on the other hand if your just looking for an upgrade from your stock heads than a good pair of rebuilt "P" heads are the way too go. FYI you can run 12's on stock, unported GT-40p heads as long as the rest of your combination is right.

RE: GT40P vs. Twisted Wedge

I have a personal friend who runs a 90 hatch with a full interior. TFS TW heads, rebuild (stock bore) 302, F303 cam, and 93 Cobra intake. He makes 324hp and 362 tq and runs mid 12's with H&R SS springs, Tokico Illumina shocks and struts, Maximim motorsports upper and lower control arms, 3.90 gears and MT ET street radials.

so it IS possible, but your vert is heavy and you will need ALOT of suspension mods. Also, If you plan on hitting 12's, you WILL need a cage

RE: GT40P vs. Twisted Wedge

You guys need to do some research. There is a guy i talked too that is running mid 12's all day with a stock explorer motor with just a stock HO cam in it. With the right combo a gt40p combo can make 300rwhp no problem. Power isnt everything if you cant get it to the ground now is it.
