Default roller 351?

i am getting a 72 351w block for free. i know its not roller. are these blocks stronger than the rest like i have read? i want to convert it to roller; can it be a roller like my old 349? meaning could i put my old lunati nitrous cam in it(just an example)? i have read about people talking about retro-fit cams but i want to be a complete roller please help out.

what do i need to make it a roller motor i don't want it to be using the retro fit stuff where my cam selection is limited.

and please if you don't know or don't have personal experince don't guess

The only option is to use the link bar hyd-roller lifters for conversions.
They are expensive...
My Crane set was $475

But if you want to run a 302 based cam, this is the way to do it...

The pre 75 blocks are mildly stronger than 75 and later. How much stronger is constantly argued.
Lots of nitrous may still challenge the integrity of the 351w block.
Most say the safe limit is between 650-750, but there is more to it than hp level.

That kit is useless for a non roller block, unless a small base circle cam is used...

Here is the Crane Hyd Roller conversion kit I will be using..
http://store.summitracing.com/partde...p;autoview=sku

No machining, just drop the conversion lifters in with a 302 base circle cam...

Look for one with a serial number that starts with F4 to F8
that will be a 1994-98 roller cam block, and will have the little screw holes
in the lifter valley for the hold down spyder.

there are tons of f-250's with roller block 351's in them...my block was tapped for the hold, and yes the crane's are pricy, but i'll never break them....it's one of those parts that will never have to be replaced...i'm using a 69 prepped block from dss....
