Whats a good RPM range to shift manually with an AOD?

well when i was in my 86 i would have it in 1st till about 5000, whent to D, Back down to 2nd......... from first to second it will chirp and it was completely stock.. im not sure if that made sence or if you know what im talking about

Before I was just going all out but had it in OD (not good) but I am trying to get out of that habbit. It chirps and sometimes fishtales when going into second. I figured I would start out in D and let it do its thing until it was time to shift back into OD.

well what i did... not sure if it was good or not for the car but...... i have it in first, bring it up to D, and quickly bring it back to 1st but first is not 1st any more its 2nd..... basically shift it your self...

Never tried that maye I will give it a try and see what happens at a low speed. Dont want to drop anything. The AOD scares me. I need to get a bigger converter.

thats what i did when i raced my auto... did it for about a year and a half and never had a problem..
