yea i realized the sensor was in the bottom half after i had already bought a new cap and rotor, needed to be replaced anyway, how hard is the swap of the sensor, does the whole distributor shaft and gear have to be pulled

i believe you just have to remove the plastic assembly in the dist.(like 3 bolts??) and its right underneath that. a think a couple more bolts hold it in.

Subscribin, my 92gt does the same thing after the HCI swap. I have replaced everything electrical and ignition related including coomputer and still have a car that doesnr run for more than 20 minutes

i bought the sensor but it looks like the only way i can make the swap is by pulling the whole distributor which i didnt want to do so this will take longer than i expected, is pulling the distributor even gonna help?

A problem that seemed to be popular on the 5.0 was the TFI module which would go bad and cause the car to cut out at operating temp just like mine does, i have replaced the $60 part and got nothing out of it.
this was my first thought.

on my old boat, with a 75hp evinrude V4 it would die on me once it got nice and warm (and i was in the middle of the damn lake) turned out to be a bad rotor EVEN THOUGH it looked PERFECT.

if you haven't done it yet, change the cap and rotor. its cheap and shoulda been done already anyways [8D]

Yes,,to replace,,you must pull the distributor(mark rotor location),knock the roll pin out of the drive gear..then pull off the gear(which there is a tool to do this correctly)....then pull the shaft up out of the distributor and replace the pickup....it really is a PITA.....

wish i knew that there was a tool to do this before i started to break things, seems like its machined on to the shaft, im guessing the tool can be picked up at a autoparts store, i've had enough of this for tonight, i will post back tomorrow after picking up the tool
