sumthing like this happened in my dads merk, when the pos cable was loose, a wicke d high pitched noise would come fomr the right side of the dash and would make all of the lights in the car sputter and if the radio was on it would make a loud "click" come out, soemtimes it would die. if u tightened the cable it would go away, but it wasnt the alternator, thougth it was some relay or sumthing

I know for a fact if you draw more current your alt is harder to turn. I had a 1989 caprice 305ci. Had 4 Audio bahn 12,s and 2 audio bahn 1500hct amps. Every time a song held a long bass now at high volume my belt would squeal. Thats even runnin 3 batts, 1 for each amp and the regular under the hood one. Replaceing my tensioner and belt solved the problem. I helped build many competion class subwoofer set ups and thats realy a comon problem. Also with getting a higher amp alt it pulls harder than a stock when the current draw is high. But thats my 2 cents take it or leave it lol. ( If tensioner is still replace belt, Clean terminals, replace bad wires if there are any. And you should never have this problem again)
