4 cyl to v-8 conversion question
I've wanted to get a nice fox body for a while now, and there is one for sale near me but it's a 4 cyl. The car looks pretty nice, and I figured I'd save some money by buying the car pretty cheap since I'm gonna build a new motor for it anyway. The question I have is, what will be the drawbacks to swapping this out, such as transmission and suspension changes or others. Does the price I'll pay for the body and rims equal outweigh will cost me to do the swap or not? By the way, the man I'm talking to wants 2000 for the car. It runs fine right now, so I'll be able to drive it around, and the body and paint are good. It has 17 inch cobra R's with the 5-lug conversion.

RE: 4 cyl to v-8 conversion question
Look at it this way, you are buying a cheap car that already has the 5-lug conversion done. You've saved at least a couple hundred dollars right there alone. I say buy the 4 cyl and convert it to the 8 cyl. Plus with the car only being a 4 cyl, there will be virtually no body stress to the car.

RE: 4 cyl to v-8 conversion question
if the car is in really good shape id say go for it. do yourself a favor though and spend 20 bucks and run a carfax to be sure its title is clean. i bought a 4 cyl for $2k couple months ago. carfax came back w/o a single blemish on it. the interior is mint. there were alot of little things that were still in excellent shpe on the car, thats why i bought it. also because its a 4 cyl you can be assured that the body hasnt been abused (twisted frame, busted torque boxes,...etc) like a5.0 would be, as long as it has a clean history. there are a few things that youll need for the swap like kmember, 5.0 spindles, 8.8 rear....just my .02
