Default Fiberglass Hatch

Anyone know the best, cheapest places to pick up a fiberglass hatch for an 89 hatchback? Mine is rusted out and i'm thinkin of goin fiberglass, any advantages/disafvantages of this decision would also be appericiated.

Harwood makes one, and its reinforced to support the glass. Also you save a ton of weight......

And what's to support the steel?(if that's the case)

I wouldn't trust it...
Might need to go that Lexan stuff

Cervinis also makes fiberglass hatches too. www.cervinis.com

and OB, you can reinforce fiberglass with all sorts of other materials like carbon fiber, wood, steel mesh, etc. etc.

advantage- loose a lot of weight
disadvantage- loose a lot of weight over the rear tires

losing all that weight more than makes up for losing it over the rear tires IMO.
the real disadvantage besides price is getting the fiberglass to fit up properly and painted to match the existing paint on the car!

I don't really see an advantage.....car road noise will go up..hatch will not seal right... hard bumps could loosen the window and fall out...alot of work to fit right....frame connectors a must with mod
