I'm going carbuerated not EFI. I was told by an engine builder this would work well with my combo. suggestions would be nice though thanks. If you guys think a flat tappet cam is still a bad idea let me know please. This is my first build so I'm not to sure which way to go

You can use a FT cam in a roller engine....as a matter of fact, Ford did it in some car models and trucks even though the block was roller. However, in terms of performance.....FT cams are at the bottom ....HR cams are more aggressive and are carburetor friendly.........or maybe you would want to look into using a tight-lash solid roller.....[sm=icon_sneaky.gif]

I think that you should 'clay-in' the pistons to check on the radial clearance around the valves for sure.
If you are checking valve/piston clearance without the head gaskets on the engine but with the heads installed always ADD whatever the head gasket thickness is to the clearance...........

i would think with .512 you'd be ok but always think safer than sorry.... get yourself some clay or even play dough and mock it up
I was told play dough is no good to use for PTV clearance because it expands and gives you a false reading.

Expand????......compress would be the case......+ it will give you a 3D view.
