New gears but 3.55 or 3.73??

Already did several searches and still kind of unclear to figure out what I would need to do on my FUTURE modification. The car is currently 3.08 rear gears and I want to upgrade higher to either a 3.55 or 3.73's. I will do some light street racing and some light highway racing. The car is my daily driver and I don't want it to burn up that much more gas then it has been using. The engine only has been hardly touch with only bumped up 14 degree timing and cold air fender intake. Also my tru-loc (posi) is only pulling from the passenger side and would need a rebuild kit. I need to know what all I need to have in addition to the listed parts I found. http://cgi.ebay.com/Ford-Racing-8-8-...QQcmdZViewItem

The car will hardly ever see a track and I don't want to sink a whole lot of money into at once.Any guidancefrom someone else that has gone through the same thing?

I went from 2.73s to 3.73s...The generic upgrade would be 3.73s for a Mustang. I am a little dissapointed in my top end, but the car scoots thru 1-3. I think you will be happy with either, and they are so close you wouldnt be able to tell the difference.

But what about your gas mileage? Did it drop a lot?

w/ my 4.10s I get from 0-100mph so fast id never go any lower
fuel mileage should increase w/ bigger gear or not if you drive at high rpm

+1, I'm unhappy with my 3.55's
sure they're a big improvement, but i think I'm going with 3.90's soon
and sell my 3.55's

I run dead on 2,500 rpm at 75mph with 3.55's

Then stick with 3.08s. For me to go that fast, I gotta be in 5th...and pulling some pretty decent RPMs..

Damn, going that fast really scares the sh!t out of me. I guess I wouldn't have to go that fast, especially driving my convertible. I am worried about crashing and not having the hardtop for protection.Does anybody know what is the top end speed on 3.55's with a 5 spd.
