Will a 4r70w tranny fit a 94 5.0 stang?
Hi I have a 94 5.0 Mustang. At the end of last summer the tranny went on it. I'm just wondering if I can replace the AODE with a 4r70w transmission? From what I've heard they are better transmissions and since I can get a 4r70w for the same price as a AODE, if it fits I'm going to do that.

I have heard that v6's have the same bell housing, but im not sure I believe it... Im going JY hunting for a 3.8l manual soon so Ill have a spare tranny... i'll find out soon... but until then... I wouldnt count on it.
You may want to look into a AOD conversion instead of using the AODE.... the E's sucked

Well i have a C-6 in mine and it works quite well. A buddy of mine has an 88 gt convertable with a C-4 which is also a good choice. If you are to get a C-6 make sure you find one with the small block bellhousing. C-6's are strong, almost bulletproof. C-4's are lighter. Just some options.

4r70w's have been used since 94 in almost all ford applications. Everything from mustangs to pickup trucks. They are the exact same externally as an AOD-E, but the controls are diff. I'm not sure that you could use it w/o modifying your harness or getting a new one.
