Default alternator possibly dead?

hey guys im pretty sure my alternator is dead. My battery isnt charging as it should while im driving, and inorder for my car to start, i must jump start it. It will start every time its jump started, but if left for several hours, it wont start, the battery either drains, or something. Anyone have an idea?

I've already checked the terminals for corrosion and made sure everything was tightly connected.

I think you can get it tested at autozone to see if its dead

Start your car and then disconnect your battery. If your car still runs then your alternator isnt bad. Also, do you have any other accessories? It might just be that your stock alt cant handle the load you are putting on it.

Put a voltage meter on the battery when the car is running and see what it says. Then see if it goes up when you rev the car, if it does its probably the alternator.

We took my friend's alternator to Advance Auto and Autozone and both of them said it was okay, but we replaced the alt and it fixed the problem, so they're testing is not fool proof.

Check for a parasitic load as well, something might be draining your battery down with the car off. Do that if you still have the problem after a new ALT.

Might just be the voltage regulator and not the whole alt that is bad. Test for a drain on the battery when the car is off and all the doors are shut/everything turned off.
