Its like a grinder, but you use these lil disks, they are kind of soft, but do a really good job at eating away and cleaning things up. I think 3M makes the disks. If you go this route, be very careful to not touch too hard, just go over everything lightly till its gone...And be extra careful with the timing cover...
I'll try to find a pic of what it is.

And i just sprayed some degreeser and cleaner and wiped everything outa the cylinders with those blue shop towels also. Got mostly everything out.
a picture would be great... can i use the grinder thingy on everything or do i need to get that screw driver looking thing too?? also about the degreeser... is simple green a degreeser?? or just a cleaning agent? also what lvl or degree of roughness of a pad do i use??? like are the sand paper grind levels or what??

well polishing gasket surfaces isn't smart...you want a slight ruff suface for better gasket seal..also I hope you vacuum each cylinder out where a piston was cleaned
too late [&:]

The discs i used were nowhere near rough enough to polish aluminum and cast iron to a smooth finish, so it must have already been like that before... and i dont think it left the factory with any leaks.

what if u got over spray in ur cylinder walls? would just carb cleaner take that of? just wondering .. maybe that would help some of you guys if you did this and were bashfull to say you did lol. But also ya the 3m pads work alwsome. the blue ones are nice for this.. they also now make pads that are plastic... they have green lil needle type things sticking of the pad.. and they do not leave debre any were.Your local 3m dealer will have them. just call a machine shop for farther info. Those are the guys that do this everyday.. lol
