Oh'... thats 36* total timing. Not +36* on top of base timing. Well then that is closer to mine than I thought. I was just counting curve. Not including my base because it can be different. Glad that, that was mentioned.

P.S. It is carbed. Using a dual point dizzy.

That's very interesting stuff.

What would the ignition timing be during light throttle cruising. Say at a steady 60 or 70mph, in 4rth or 5th?

Vehicle speed will not have an impact, nor will the gear selection (at least not directly).

The base table for typical Closed Loop cruising is listed above. Simply look up the RPM and %Load you are at, then add the value in the ECT adder table. Also, add in any advance you have set at the distributor over the base of 10*.



By the by...
I think the only reason there would be a hp gain from running a cooler than stock T-stat, would be from getting the ECT temps lower (Actually the ACT temps would probably drop slightly as well...). I think the hp gain would be more from the timing increase than from the 'denser' intake charge.
This is just my brainstorming opinion though, feel free to argue...
