Try and clean out your idle air controller on the throttle body. That might help, it helped mine when it was doing that.

A little more info on the car would be good! Did it just start doing it or have you done some mods to your car and now it does it? What year is it? Could be a bad TPS, timing, running rich, mass air meter, EGR, 02 sensors!

I heard of drilling an 1/8 hole in the throttle body butterfly will fix it. On the fire wall on the vaccuum tree there is a port that is plugged off, take that cap off will fix the problem.

there is actually a fix for that Ford has, its a plate that goes between your IAC and throttle body that has a set screw in it that you can set the idle speed by feeding it some air from the IAC , thus keeping it from surging...

i have one on my 90 gt.... now, if i could just figure out why it wont hit 4000 rpms...sigh... that is another problem...

the car has some mods, 76mm mass air, 75 mm tb and egr spacer, C and L cold air, 24lb injectors, f cam, gt 40 heads. it also has a afpr but i dont have a pressure gauge to set it just yet and a 255 lph fuel pump. i just put new o2 sensors in today and hasnt helped. im gonna try to clean the iac and see what happens and then maybe tryin drilling a hole in my tb
