engine year??
ok so i got a 302 out in the garage and i dont know what its out of or anything so i was tryin to find the vin number or w/e on the block...the only number i could find was "9G15"...it was on the bottom back of the block under neath where the bell housing of the tranny bolts up....is this the right number?

should be a long string of numbers on the side of the block near where the starter would mount on the passenger side..... if memory serves
first digit should be a C, D, or E followed by a number. C is 60's, D 70's, E 80's and the number would give you the rest of the year.... C8 = 1968, E5 = 1985
fyi every ford part number ever made since at least the 50's has used this method - from a engine block to a plastic molding clip... although i think stuff got screwy after 2000 but im not sure.

the C D E number is the first year that the part was designed and used...if the part was still in use many years after it was designed it would still beart the older part number...for instance, your E7 ('87) block could have been used in '93.
